This year the annual meeting for the Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention was held at Northwest Baptist Church in Milwaukee which is part of the Lakeland Baptist Association. Messengers from all over the two states were represented. One highlight in regards to the Central Baptist Association of this year’s meeting was that Pastor Jeff Nettles of Rolling Hills Church in Platteville was elected as president of the state convention for the next two years. Jeff and his family moved to Platteville, Wisconsin in 1999 from Alabama to plant a church.
Jeff has now been at Rolling Hills Church for more than 10 years. Over the years, scores of students from UW-Platteville have been disciples at Rolling Hills and are now serving in various locations. One example is Jamie Dunbar who is now serving on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi as the church and community she is working with continues to rebuild from Hurricane Katrina. Rolling Hills also sponsors Heartland Church in Muscoda.
As the churches of the CBA, I encourage us all to pray for Jeff and his family over the next two years. Pray for Jeff to be a Christ like influence on the MWBC and for his leadership to be led of the Holy Spirit. Pray also that our CBA churches will become more actively engaged in the work of the MWBC to reach the more than 10 million people who live in our two states.
