Challenge to Plant More New Churches

Map showing Population to SBC churches. There are more than 64,000 people for every SBC church in Wisconsin.

In our meeting on September 8 at Campus Community Church our Southern Wisconsin Baptist Association Executive Team received a challenge from Dr. Steve Davis, Vice President of the North American Mission Board, to plant more churches.    In Wisconsin we currently have more than 64,000 people for every Southern Baptist church.  While we recognize that other churches are sharing the gospel this statistic reveals there is much work to be done to fulfill the Great Commission in our state.

With 21 churches currently in our association with a population of more than 1.2 million people we take note that more churches need to be planted if we are to reach lost people with the gospel.    Steve Davis challenged us to have the conviction that people are eternally separated from God without Jesus Christ as Savior in their lives.  This conviction leads us to have a burden to see people come to Christ.

The overwhelming statistic of more than 1.2 million people in our region gives us great motivation to see new churches planted.     Please pray that the Lord of the harvest will send laborers into His field in Wisconsin to see new works started that will reach people with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.   May the Lord give us all a burden to reach the lost people around us with the good news of Jesus.
